Well, it’s not like I’m really going a year without ballet, however I am going a year without being affiliated with some type of company. I was hoping to do some work with a company here in Louisville called Moving collective, but I’m not sure if it’s going to work out, considering my schedule is already pretty hectic between the ballet/pilates classes I do take, school, my workstudy at school, and my real job that pays the bills. Dance life sure is hard, but I knew this when I signed on and decided to go to school to get my degree first and then try my luck at the ballet world. I’ve been keeping my own personal journal about what it’s been like to take class at just random studios around here, and I’ve got to say it’s a lot of pressure on me to spend the next 5 months (if that) working even harder than I have worked the past two years when I was a Trainee and fighting for a paid job. I know I can do it, I just have to stay extra motivated. Also, I wonder if there are any kind of workshops or intensives that occur during the year that I could attend. I honestly haven’t been to a new summer intensive since college and would love to get new insights and feedback into the ballet world and how I can better my technique and artistry. Any thoughts?
