Thank you for sharing this with us. It is like hearing it from a dream. And good work!!! You have improved more than anyone could probably have imagined! :) Who knew that Michigan, of all states, could produce such a talent? Continue making everyone proud--we have faith in you.

Thanks for your thoughtful observations, Jennifer.
We (dancepanorama staff) think you are right: money is tight these days and everyone needs to make tough decisions.
Which brings us to what you and and anyone interested in dance or fine art in general can do: speak up!
Make sure you are registered to vote (if you are 18 or over) and then find out who your representatives are. Tell them (whether you are 18 or over, or not) how important the arts are to you. (you can find your reps. here: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt)
Don't be bashful. These people work for you, they want your vote, and they will listen.
-- Tell them most industrialized countries spend way more on the arts than the United States does.
-- Tell them that art inspires our aspirations, and that every great culture invested generously in art (Rome, Greece, Egypt, China, Japan, etc.). -- Tell them that most industrialized countries have a cabinet level secretary or minister of culture and we should, too.
-- Finally, tell them you want The National Endowment for the Arts to be better funded...now!
...and visit our discussion forum to let us know what you think: Arts Funding Crunched
